Nile Zamalek Hotel ★★

Location, near the metro station and in Zamalek and view from roof top

Old and cleanness was poor

The Nile Zamalek Hotel is a get what you book. It is cheap and for its price good. I've had room 212, no nile view as via booking you can't book nile view. Room was quiet and kinda clean, but yes they could do more cleaning there (windows, toilet, bed sheets..). I asked for early check-in upfront and they've made it possible. Breakfast was an boiled egg, some cheese, one or two bread and some coffee. If you are in a rush let the staff know the evening before when you want to have your breakfast, otherwise you won't make it. It is not a buffet, more like an continental breakfast and it is beside the reception, sadly not on the roof. The roof is amazing and make much out of it, good food for dinner and reasonable prices. If you stay at the hotel please let the roof staff know so you don't have the minimum fee/entrance fee. Outsiders can enter the hotel and roof top, they will he charged an entrance fee and minimum charge. If you are a Traveller, don't look for small details, need a cheap, good located place to stay you will like it. The hotel is old but I think the staff does what they can, some of them have 24h shifts, be nice and they will be nice to you *as everywhere in Egypt. Zamalek itself has many cafes, restaurants, bars, super markets, boutiques, even a tattoo studio between all the embassies. Easy access to other areas with the metro station tight in front of the door or uber.

Please overlook the cleaning.

l was so pleased they were still open at 1.30 when I got there thanks to Cairo air being 3.5 hours late for no given reason.

leak in bathroom dripping on sodden roll of toilet paper then onto slippery wet floor. one floor towel. but hey you know roughly how cheap the place is and it’s position and you read all the critics so you know what to expect.

The hotel survives thanks to its bar on the roof top, hot water runs out half of the bath, breakfast is a real pity, elevator stinks

This place is your typical backpacker hotel. No frills, but excellent classic views of the river. If you're expecting 5-star fakeness, you won't find it here. But you'll find a place filled with character and stories. Having access to a local dive rooftop bar that lacks in international flair, but completely wins with breathtaking views and cheap beers is a win all around. I've stayed in some sketchy venues, and this isn't one of them. You get your moneys worth, more so if can put a price on the views. And yes, I had plenty of hot water with my own 50L water heater in the bathroom. For those folks who complained of running out of hot water, they should spend more time on the terrace enjoying the view and less time in the bathroom.

The location was fab, ,Zamalek is a really funky little area with all sorts of juice bars and interesting shops. I loved it. Also the rooftop bar at the hotel has a great view of the Nile and is full of friendly locals

The view from my room was amazing looking over an old colonial style building with beautiful trees and the River Nile beyond. Bedroom furniture in the deluxe room was new and bed very comfortable. Building very old and grubby but great roof terrace bar and restaurant upstairs. Great when on a budget.

WiFi didn't work. Taxi drivers have no idea where the hotel is. You need GPS to find your way around Zamalek and to find the hotel.

Food at the restaurant is very good, receptionist Alaa was very helpful and bell man too. Bed sheets was very clean and smell

Door locker was defected annoyed me alot.

The bed and pillows were acceptably clean and comfortable.

The staff were rude and unhelpful, the gave us the wrong room and the air con didn't work. The place was dirty and poorly kept. It's in a weird location in Zamalek and doesn't seem to be near any bars or restaurants on the island. When we went to get breakfast at 9:40am (breakfast from 8-10am) we were told the chef hadn't arrived and we would have to wait 25 minutes for the chef to arrive.

Top floor offers a good spot for a drink and a view of the nile and the city.

The room is dirty and disorganized. I went out to the balcony and someone smoked ciggeretts and left buts on the floor indicating the room was not cleaned. This was evidenced in some rotten stuff inside the fridge, which was dirty and full of mold. Dust was all over furniture. Furniture is too large to the size of the room I am 5.3 and 120 pound size woman and it was difficult to move around in the room. At the disk there were several wires coming from a TV screen hung at the wall and using the disk space as the spot for receiver and wires disorganized. As I called the reception to talk about the cleanliness of the room, they sent the cleaning lady who spent 15 minutes trying to convince me that the room was cleaned and she did not clean the room. As I was sleeping during the day someone was knocking hard at the door, as I did not answer I was horrified with someone trying to open the door with a key. This was the cleaning lady who was asking me about the receiver and finding it convenient to open the door instead of making a phone call from reception, before entering the room in the afternoon with a man. Scary. Internet connection does not work for almost all day making your business trip a nightmare. I wanted to get my hair done at the Salon in the hotel, which is in photos as well, to find out the place does not exist.

I was able to hear everyone in the other rooms at the same floor even doing.... which was really uncomfortable for me. Room toilet had a continuous sound of water leaking.

The breakfast was too late to catsh at 8 am I had to go early and it was too late

The staff asked me to pay 12 Dollar for the extra bed which is unfair
